Computer artwork of safety fistual needle in action. Model built in 3ds Max, global illumination rendered using Brazil R/S, lit with HDRI map and single object light.

The skin texture was achieved by placing my forearm in a flat bed scanner and applying the resulting scan to a section of a cylinder. The sub-dermal discolouration was painted in photoshop then applied to the Brazil skin shader as a sub-surface layer.

The needle is used in hemodialysis and is produced by Nipro pharmaceutical.
