Model of carbon nanosphere (Buckyball). In production, graphite is formed from sheets of carbon called graphene. A single sheet of graphene formed into a sphere constitutes a carbon nanosphere, referred to as a buckyball or fullerene after Buckminster Fuller.
This image was produced in Autodesk 3d studio Max from a geodesic sphere, then rendered in Brazil R/S using object based lights and global illumination.
